Algae blooms occurring in the ocean attract ocean creatures that feed on it, which I turn attracts larger aquatic creatures that feed on then, and they in turn attract larger predators. So to, (employing an awkward analogy), does the existence of new content on the internet attract viewers, and that in turn attracts spammers and trolls.
There are some individuals who seem to achieve some kind of catharsis by treating others over the internet in ways that would make news with headlines using words like ‘shocking’ or ‘disgraceful behaviour’. Perhaps they are bullied in the real world and through trolling have found a way to vent their pent up frustrations? Perhaps they are so desperate to have their existence validated that even resentment seems desirable? Or perhaps they are just @$$holes. Who knows. My assumption is that sooner or later, someone is going to come along and poo poo or spill hate on this blog. I do have some posts in the early planning stages that will be considered controversial by some. But when trolls do make an appearance, this often causes supporters to become defensive and results in comment fights breaking out.
So I do ask readers, please don’t feed the trolls.
It can be hard not to get angry after spending three hours drafting a post, double checking that your links are working, and finding or creating visual content to compliment, only to find that the first comment is something along the lines of…..
‘ITS SPELT COLOR NOT COLOUR U MORON! ‘
Now let us consider the following potential response that some individuals might find inflammatory….
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Your effort to try and improve the quality of this blog’s content is appreciated. I do hail from Australia. We are a member of the Commonwealth of Nations or British Commonwealth, and follow the British convention of spelling many words like colour with ‘our’ whereby our American friends spell it ‘color‘. These words usually have Latin roots in their etymology. This dates back to the Norman conquest of England around the eleventh century that introduced Anglo/French pronunciations to the evolution of the English language. Whereas the American spelling of ‘or’ is largely credited to the Webster’s 1828 dictionary, and a lexicographer and language reformer by the name of Noah Webster. You may also be interested to note that spelt is an ancient species of wheat. I you probably meant to write ‘spelled’, though your use of abbreviation in employing ‘u´ instead of ‘you‘ does suggest you are a very busy individual so let us not dwell on that point. One other thing, and this is so minor that it is barely worth mentioning, you might want to get your keyboard checked as your Caps Lock key may have become stuck. Once again, it is great to have your participation on this blog and thank you for taking the time to do so. PS: Please pass on my regards to your mother when you pass her at the budget brothel on the way to your day job as the village idiot you pile of human excrement!
Haters are gonna hate. Hate can spread like an infection. So before you press that submit button flaming a hater… stop…. breathe…..then smother them with love instead. It is harder to do. Hate does seem to come easily. How many worthwhile things can you think of that come easily?
Thanks for coming. Here is a funny random video.
