Today’s Trivia: The entire dandelion plant is edible. 100 g of its leaves provides nearly 75% your recommended daily intake of Vitamin K, its flowers can be used to make wine, its root can be used to make a coffee-tasting drink, and it is also used in several soft drinks.
Note: The Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane Day sounds like a crazy made up event, but to my surprise it has a historical foundation that I was compelled to call out.
Back on February 18 1930, a cow by the name of Elm Farm Ollie (nicknamed Ellie Jay) was the first cow to fly on a plane. She flew 72 miles from her home in Bismarck Missouri to St Louis. On the trip she was milked so that scientists could observe the affect of milking at high altitudes. Ellie Jay gave 24 quarts of milk that was then put in paper containers and dropped with parachuted over St Louis.
