Today’s focus: Casimir Pluaski Day
This day is celebrated in US areas with large Polish populations. It is officially observed in Chicago, Illinois on the first Monday of March in memory of Casimir Pulaski (6/3/1745 – 11/10/1779 dd/mm/yyyy date formats). He is remembered for his US military contributions in the American Revolution and is known as “the father of the American cavalry.”
There is a separate holiday that remembers Pulaski’s death from wounds suffered at the Siege of Savannah on 9/10/1779.
