The next three rounds are the bye rounds. So we begin this week’s report with a reminder on how those rounds work.
Players who have a bye will not count toward your team score.
Now, here is the tricky bit. According to the Supercoach Draft rules page, that is the end of the rules specific to byes.
In Classic Supercoach, only your best 18 players on the field count toward your team total. Players on the bench do not factor in regardless of emergency status. But these rules do not appear on the Draft League rules page.
Last year, we had fewer teams and as a result, did not play the bye rounds. Reading the rules as they are written, it looks like emergencies will still count in Draft, and that your entire team (if playing) count toward your team score.
These rounds provide a chance for some of the lower teams to rejuvinate their season, if they are prepared to risk shuffling players in and out of their sides to affect their weekly results. But expect other players who have wins up their sleeves to be watching who gets released and picking them up in preparation for the run to the finals, which begin for us in round 18.
Remember, there is a prize for the highest finishing player outside the final eight following the final series’ as well, so there is still something for everyone to play for!

Game 1
Wanda Bombers (15) vs Ed (7)
Key players missing from team line ups:
Commentary: Wanda Bombers captain O Wines (PTA) was one of four players passing the 100+ point mark, but four donuts on the field destroyed any chance of a victory for the side. With 3 players on the bench posting scores, a poor effort from the coach.
Ed captain G Ablett (GCS) was one of just three players posting 100+ for the side. H Grundy (SYD) was left on the bench, where his 100+ score failed to have any impact. Two donuts on the field left Ed looking down on their form of recent weeks, but was enough to limp weakly over the line for the win.

Game 2
KilpatrickDangrfld (6) vs Garrys Lyon (9)
Key players missing from team line ups: Garrys Lyon : A Sandilands (FRE), I Maric (RIC)
Commentary: NB the final score for Garry’s Lyon updated to 1477 after the above screencap was taken, but the margin of 14 points was still incredibly close. Garrys Lyon captain L Dahlhaus (WB) went down early with injury, leaving to four of his teammates to post 100+ scores for the side. A single donut on the field was covered by the interchange.
KilpatrickDangrfld captain B Gibbs(CAR) was one of four players posting 100+ scores for the team. He will be annoyed that D Kent (MEL) also scored a 100+, but on the interchange, that score did not count toward the team result, and ultimately cost him a win.

Game 3
Jackson 22 (7) vs WADA You Want (11)
Key players missing from team line ups: Jackson 22 : T Adams (COL), WADA You Want : S Mitchell (HAW)
Commentary: Jackson 22 posted not only the highest score for the round, but also the highest team score this season, on the back of captain P Dangerfield (GEE). Paddy was one of six players posting 100+ scores for the side. And that score still had a donut in it.
WADA You Want apparently didn’t see the news that S Mitchell (HAW) wasn’t playing this round as they left their captaincy on him. Vice captain D Hannebery (SYD) fell short of the 100+ point mark. Only two players did pass 100+, while there were three donuts on the field.
Best:
Jackson 22 : P Dangerfield (GEE), S Gibson (NTH), S Docherty (CAR), S Hampson (RIC), T Greene (GWS), J Hogan (MEL)

Game 4
musashimonsters (13) vs TeamarinoWazarino (17)
Key players missing from team line ups: musashimonsters : A Hall (GCS), D Swallow (GCS), T Langdon (COL)
Commentary: In another hair raising finish, with just 3 points deciding the match, TeamarinoWazarino captain R Sloane (ADE) was one of four players passing 100+ points. musashimonsters captain D Martin (RIC) was one of three players passing 100+ for their side, but FIVE donuts on the field buried any chance of a win for the monsters.
Best:
musashimonsters : D Martin (RIC), T Cutler (BRL), D Wells (NTH)
TeamarinoWazarino : J Lewis (HAW), R Sloane (ADE), T Membrey (STK), L Montagna (STK)

musashimonsters : R13 – 10 players on bye. R14 – 4 players on bye. R 15 – 8 players on bye.
TeamarinoWazarino : R13 – 13 players on bye. R14 – 5 players on bye. R 15 – 4 players on bye.
Game 5
Clem Fandango (8) vs Todd Goldmember (1)
Key players missing from team line ups: Todd Goldmember : S Higgins (NTH), J Johannisen (WB)
Commentary: Todd Goldmember captain L Neale (FRE) was well down on form, leaving it to four of his teammates to pass the 100+ mark without him. Clem Fandango captain S Grigg (RIC) fell short of 100+ points also, with 2 teammates passing that threshold only. A mediocre performance from both sides, with Todd Goldmember sneaking away with a win and maintaining their spot on top of the ladder going into the bye rounds.
Best:
Clem Fandango : M Wright (CAR), J Riewoldt (RIC)
Todd Goldmember : T Rockliff (BRL), H Shaw (GWS), S Coniglio (GWS), R Griffen (GWS), M Gawn (MEL)
Injuries:

Todd Goldmember :
Clem Fandango : 6 wins, 6 losses – ladder position [11] – next opponent: WADA You Want [13]
Todd Goldmember : 10 wins, 2 losses – ladder position [1] – next opponent: Rough Draft [4]
Bye Analysis:
Clem Fandango : R13 – 7 players on bye. R14 – 10 players on bye. R 15 – 5 players on bye.
Todd Goldmember : R13 – 6 players on bye. R14 – 3 players on bye. R 15 – 13 players on bye.
Game 6
Kobayashi Maru (12) vs White Line Fever (18)
Key players missing from team line ups: White Line Fever : N Riewoldt (STK)
Commentary: In the most one sided affair of the round, Kobayashi Maru captain, B Vince (MEL) led the way, being one of four players passing 100+ for the side. 2 donuts on the field were disappointing, but not material to the outcome.
White Line Fever captain A Gaff (WC) failed to even score half of the 100+ threshold. Only one player for the side did manage 100+, 6 donuts on the field with three players on the interchange posting scores suggest the coach was asleep at the helm.
Best:
Kobayashi Maru : R Gray (PTA), H Ballantyne (FRE), A Rance (RIC), B Vince (MEL)
White Line Fever : M Duncan (GEE)
Injuries:
Kobayashi Maru : N Dal Santo (NTH) adductor, K Tippett (SYD) knee/hamstring

Game 7
Rough Draft (4) vs Motley Crew (16)
Key players missing from team line ups: Rough Draft : J O’Meara (GCS) Motley Crew : N Vlastuin (RIC)
Commentary: Who could have predicted a match between 4th and 16th would result in a draw! Resurgent Motley Crew are showing a level of competitiveness that is putting the majority of the league to shame. Captain T Mitchell (SYD) fell just short of the 100+ point mark, with 3 teammates passing 100+ points. A single donut on the field also allowed S Kersten (GEE) to come off the bench and add a fourth 100+ point score to the team total.
Rough Draft captain J Selwood (GEE) was one of three players scoring 100+ points for their side.
Best:
